Found time yesterday to head up to the Lake Erie Speedway for some autocross. There was a huge turnout - paired with the late start and being 2 hours away from home, it was a long day .
The RX7 did well. Being stock suspension, stock engine (except the exhaust and some carb work), and running chinese all-seasons (go try to find good street tires in 13" - I’ll wait) meant for some slow times. My best time was a few seconds slower than the next guy. It was fun, though.
Out of 7 runs, my fastest and slowest were less than 3 seconds apart, despite trying different things on almost every run to try and catch up to the pack.
For perspective, my best run was a 58.9; ES miatas were in the low 50s, my friend’s Mini (DSP) was around 47, and fastest of the day (an SSR miata) was 44.5 or so.
Not sure what’s up with my GoPro but it seems to have lost the ability to focus more than a few feet away, which is a bummer since I use it about twice a year.

How’s the pavement up there? With some luck, Onyxia should be home for Misery Bay #7. (Though probably not competing for that one, maybe #8 .)

Dang! I wish I knew there was another oppo present to make an effort to actually meet you. That was a crazy turnout, I’ve never seen more than 30 people there, let alone 60+ (though it’s been a couple years).

Not too bad. Being a speedway mainly used for demolition derbies and drifting it’s far from perfect, but there’s nothing too crazy bad. A couple spots where really low cars will scrape a little but overall it’s fairly smooth, at least compared to the roads I’m used to!

... you know the exact words to scare the shit out of me. Onyxia is a 911 C4GTS. R ide height is somewhere between ‘silicon fab process’ and ‘nose hair,’ and fresh paint is literally curing as I write this.

The same. I always try to introduce myself to fellow Opposite if I know they are around.
I think that was my 6th MBR autocross in the past two years, and yeah, that was easily the largest group I've run with there. I really like going there when I can because each event seems to be dramatically different in layout. Admittedly, this layout was one of the more frustrating ones for me.

The main area of concern is where the banking starts, since it’s a bit of an uphill. Nothing that would damage anything beyond the paint on
t
he bottom of the lip, but I fully understand not wanting to do that to that car!

The layout definitely had benefit to higher power cars. Only a few spots that were really tight, a lot of relatively high speed sweepers and such. That TT RS was very audi-esque through the pin at the end of the slalom but was making good times still what with having 400-some HP to put down at all four wheels.
